Mary, Crown Princess of Denmark Engagement Ring

Prince Frederik proposed in 2003 and presented a gorgeous engagement ring which has an emerald cut diamond centered and flanked by two ruby bagauettes in addition to a dazzling diamond. Though the rubies are somewhat eccentric, according to Prince Frederik, the rubies symbolize the red and white color of the Danish flag.

The couple met at the Slip Inn, a pub in Sydney, Australia same time during the 2000 Summer Olympics. Frederik was very romantic and humble that he did not want Princess Mary to know that he was a prince, and that he introduced himself as “Fred”. They had a long distance relationship and somehow privately visits Denmark attending christenings and weddings of friends with prince Frederik. After presenting an engagement ring they were officially reported engaged on October 8, 2003.
